Where Did They Come From?
Daniel Bennett

By becoming a Corporation (through a process called "incorporation") a business is given a legal identity distinct from the people who run it.

Once incorporated, the law treats the corporation as if it is an actual and a separate person from those who run the corporation. This person shields those who actually run the business from responsibility for their actions.

How did the Commercial Corporation begin? How did Corporations¹ become able to act so freely? What rights do the public have in a democracy to challenge or control the actions of Corporations?
