John Locke is Bristol's most famous philosopher. He was born in Wrington, Somerset on August 29, 1632 and brought up in the market town of Pensford, about seven miles south of Bristol. Locke is not only the main intellectual founder of
liberalism, but also of neoliberalism, the 'ruling idea' of the ruling class of today.

George Caffentzis is associate professor in the Department of Philosophy, University of Southern Maine, USA. His publications include 'Exciting the Industry of Mankind George Berkeley's Philosophy of Money' and 'Clipped Coins, Abused Words
